Find your own voice – and take your voiceover acting career to new levels!

Ready to start standing out as a voiceover talent? This workshop is designed for actors to get a handle on all the ins and outs of the voiceover acting world. You’ll learn all the elements and terminology of the voiceover industry, the most effective ways to break down a voiceover script, and how to develop your talent to make yourself stand out from the crowd. You’ll learn how to find potential voiceover jobs and how to do the killer audition that will help you book the gig! We’ll also give you the information on all the resources and technology you will need as a professional voiceover actor. Whether you are an experienced voiceover talent or just getting started as a voiceover actor, this workshop will help you take your career to the next level!

Kathy Grable, our instructor, will bring her first hand experience from working with hundreds of students and clients herself, specializing in bringing out the best ‘you,’ you have to offer.

Who should attend: Actors, voiceover artists and anyone interested in producing a great voiceover demo.

Requirements: Bring tools for taking notes – pen and paper – and your voice.

By the end of this class, you’ll know:

  • All the elements of the voiceover acting world and the terminology unique to the voiceover industry;
  • How to break down a voiceover script;
  • The resources and technology you will need to participate in this specialty of the acting world; and
  • How to do a killer audition to book the role.

Instructor: Kathy Grable is known in the Los Angeles voice-over world as a prototype with her warmth and sincerity that reminds listeners of a close friend. She’s been heard in hundreds of commercials for everything from Busch Gardens, Budget Rent-A-Car, Coke, Burger King, and as the Baskin-Robbins ‘Talking Spoon.’ She was also the voice double for Nicole Kidman in the hit film Batman Forever, as well as voice double for ‘Florence Henderson’ in the Brady Bunch spoof used in the Super Bowl commercial with Danny Treho. On-camera, Kathy had a re-occuring role in Last Man Standing, and has appeared in shows such as Mike & Molly and The Wedding Band. She just wrapped up production for The Christmas Pause this spring. She’s represented by the venerable agency, William Morris/Endeavor. Recognized as one of the best voice-over and acting teachers in L.A., Kathy has helped launch several careers, from children to adults, and celebrities breaking into V.O., preparing for an audition, and directing/producing demos for select clients. Her teacher programs have included Kalmenson and Kalmenson, starting a drama ministry at Bel-Air Presbyterian church, acting classes Laurel Hall, Kids Arts program, as well as directing a 100-piece choir at the Hollywood Bowl four years running. As a director, she recently directed auditions for two Super Bowl commercials – Expedia and El Pollo Loco – as well as an audiodrama launched on May 1st. She co-owns a digital publishing company with her husband Greg Perkins, has two daughters, and a feisty labradoodle named Maggie.

Are there ID requirements to enter the event?

The good folks at the Netflix Security Gate will need to see a government-issued photo ID to match with your name on the list we give them, so make sure you register and bring your driver’s license or passport with you.

How early should I arrive at the event?

You should leave yourself enough time to get through the security gate, park in the parking structure, and walk to the front door of Netflix, where we will have someone waiting to direct you to the workshop room. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the workshop is scheduled to begin.

What are my parking options getting to the event?

Parking is free if you are on the attendee list – here are the guest parking guidelines:

  • Guest parking is located at 1455 N. Van Ness Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028.
  • Please enter the Main Entry via the security gate.
  • A current photo ID is required.
  • Security personnel will direct you to complimentary self-parking.
  • The Netflix lobby is located directly across from the parking garage.
  • Immediately after entering the building turn right down the hall and wait in the coffee bar area.
