It’s not enough to just make a movie – you’ve got to figure out how you’re going to get it seen by as many people as possible, and hopefully, the whole world. In this session, we’re going to cover the essentials of film distribution and the steps you can take to make sure your movie gets out there to the theaters, the streaming platforms, and other outlets.

Requirements: Bring pen and paper or notetaking tools.

By the end of this session, you’ll know:

  • The essential elements of gaining a distribution deal;
  • What steps you should take in pitching your movie in order to get a good distribution deal;
  • What pitfalls to avoid as you negotiate your distribution agreements.

Instructor: Tom Hughes is the Executive Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Lionsgate Distribution. In that position, his duties include worldwide media distribution, P&L responsibility, business development, staff development, developing and implementing new monetization strategies.
