This is the workshop you have been looking for to answer all your questions regarding the full financing your film. At this workshop held at Netflix, you will receive practical, in-depth information, efficiently written and presented. They will include Anne Marie Gillen’s powerful PowerPoint presentation, documents, and interactive Q&A.
We will start with a concise overview of The Seven Major Principals and Practices Common Among the Film Industry’s Most Successful Producers and how you can immediately implement these practices. There is a small core of powerful independent production companies that know how to achieve their ultimate creative goals, locate their target audiences, and turn a profit on every picture they produce. They all apply these Seven Major Principles and Practices.
The key to the workshop will be exploring and understanding Sources of Film Financing Worldwide. Equity is King – and finding and closing it is the key component to funding every film. We will cover everything from equity to crowdfunding; presales to tax credits/rebates, co-production companies with financing to goods & services deals.
Who should attend: Producers, directors, and filmmakers of all types.
Requirements: Bring pen and paper or notetaking tools.
By the end of this class, you’ll know how to:
- Utilize a myriad of financing sources that are available to filmmakers worldwide;
- Structure deals with co-production companies with financing;
- Value your film before you make it;
- Structure deals between producers and investors; and
- Make the money back when you finish a movie.
Instructor: Anne Marie Gillen is an independent producer, consultant, lecturer, and corporate/executive coach who is extensively experienced in film development, financing, and worldwide distribution. Her first feature film was the critically acclaimed independent film Fried Green Tomatoes, starring Kathy Bates. She went on to serve as the Chief Operating Officer for Morgan Freeman’s production company, Revelations Entertainment, where she produced Under Suspicion. She is the author of The Business of Show Business for Creatives, and the co-author of The Producer’s Business Handbook. Anne Marie produces and offers consulting services for a wide range of film and television projects through her company, The Gillen Group.

Are there ID requirements to enter the event?
The good folks at the Netflix Security Gate will need to see a government-issued photo ID to match with your name on the list we give them, so make sure you register and bring your driver’s license or passport with you.
How early should I arrive at the event?
You should leave yourself enough time to get through the security gate, park in the parking structure, and walk to the front door of Netflix, where we will have someone waiting to direct you to the workshop room. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the workshop is scheduled to begin.
What are my parking options getting to the event?
Parking is free if you are on the attendee list – here are the guest parking guidelines:
- Guest parking is located at 1455 N. Van Ness Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028.
- Please enter the Main Entry via the security gate.
- A current photo ID is required.
- Security personnel will direct you to complimentary self-parking.
- The Netflix lobby is located directly across from the parking garage.
- Immediately after entering the building turn right down the hall and wait in the coffee bar area.
